The Great Pyramid of Giza was built in about 20 years. It still hasn't been discovered exactly how it was built, but there are a number of theories. The structure remains the tallest man-made structure, despite not having been built in the last 3,000 years. The Great Pyramid contains 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing between 2.5 and 15 tons, some weighing 50 tons. Each stone block is placed in a specific spot on the foundation of the pyramid. It was built using a ball-and-socket foundation, which is capable of coping with earthquakes and heat expansion.
