Positive Options for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Of the books on PCOS I have purchased and received, so far this is the best. I appreciate that the author has approached and researched this disease from a holistic point of view and not only includes the importance of nutrition but goes further in encouraging organic, eliminating chemicals, alternatives to synthetic hormones as well as the importance of exercise (extensive suggestions) and emotional well being. Do consider the purchase of this book. It really does approach the subject in a positive way and gives the reader a feeling of empowerment toward taking control of ones health and wellbeing.

Great info- and positive at last!

I personally like the books written, or atleast contributed to by someone who has the disease. It just add that personal touch. However, some of the PCOS books written in this manner have been very poor, or include dangerous advice. Althougt "positive options" is a big box churn and burn medical topic printing, the info here is very good. The tone is nuetral, more positive instead of negative- another common plague of PCOS lit. It tells you what to expect, shows you some excersizes, options for managing symptoms, and references. It does have the typical holistic fodder I have come to expect and accept. Aromatherpay as nice as it can be- cannot cure PCOS. Still a great reference book- All health books have holistic fodder - some good and bad- and you just have to know what will work for you. But, atleast you have the option.

Good but basic...

This is an excellent book to read if you are just looking for basic information on this subject or a newly diagnosed PCOS patient. It provides an overview of the condition and what you can do to manage your symptoms. The stuff covered in here will probably be repetitive if you are looking for a more in depth book.

Great for newly diagnosed PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS many years ago, so a lot of this information wasn't news, but if you've just been diagnosed, this book is full of wonderful and hopeful information. And for those of us who already know what we have, this book is also helpful in providing some alternative treatments (diet, exercise as well as herbal). The tone of the entire book is very supportive and positive. If nothing else, it makes you realize that this is much more common than most people think.

Excellent for the women who wants a simple help guide!!

This book is an easy read and small enough to use as a referance book. It outlines how you can help yourself by changing your diet, adding exercise(along the lines of yoga and pilates), basic vitamin/mineral supplementation, and holistic therapys. For me personally I like to take more of a natural approach if possible before relying on medication and this is perfect. It breaks everthing up into each symptom and how to deal with them individually. There are sections on getting pregnant, getting help from your doctor, and emotional support. It's just a wonderful easy guide and I highly recommend it to any women with PCOS.
