Perspectives of Dress

Perspectives of Dress focuses on the social psychology of clothing and its importance in a society's culture. The purpose of this book is to show the importance placed on dress in regard to social interaction.

Dress is a significant form of nonverbal communication. How we dress provides visible symbols that affect our social interaction with other people. This insightful book highlights the role of dress in both individual and group behaviour.

As Mark Twain once said, "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."

Isabel Makwara Mupfumira earned a bachelor of education degree in home economics and a master's degree in technical education in textiles and clothing from the University of Zimbabwe. She currently lectures on home economics, textiles, and clothing at Great Zimbabwe University. She has also lectured on home economics and in textiles and clothing at a teachers' college, and on industrial clothing design and production at a technical college. This is her second book.
