disappointed

It's not about that this book in particular, it's that none of the books has a brief description one finds inside the jacket of a book. I'd like to know what the story is about before I buy it. Also, when I'm done reading a book I put it in our local library drop box.

Wonderful read

All of Fredrik Backman's books are delightful and this one is no exception.

Lovely and sweet

Picked up this book from one of our little street libraries in the PNW because I enjoyed the movie A Man Called Otto. I was touched by the great writing, descriptions and how I could actually see the characters and surroundings in my mind. Excellent heroine(s) in the little girl and her grandmother. Couldn't put it down. If you don't like to cry, this may not be the book for you. However, I dislike crying, but I couldn't help myself and actually, it was okay. Brilliant book!

Sweet and a little nutty

Very sweet book with very sweet characters. It's an odd, somewhat nutty cast of characters, who are explained along the way. Being written from Elsa's point of view allows it to be somewhat vague and confusing, but in the way that the world and grief is confusing to a socially awkward 6 year old. It's clever and heart-warming. I'm looking forward to reading other books by the author. The only issue I had was that presumably, Grandma fed the Wurse chocolate bars fairly consistently. And it guzzled coffee numerous times. It's a wonder it was alive to be part of the story. Maybe it truly was a Wurse after all....no ordinary dog could live on chocolate and coffee with no ill effects. Clearly, as this is my only problem I can find with the book, I found it to be a good read.

Interesting book

Geared towards a slightly younger crowd- and/or someone who is into the fantasy genre. This book was weird to me at first but by the final third I would say I was really hooked and it all came together. It took me a while to finish but I was glad I did.

Great!

Loved how the book was written. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down.

Child telling story of life with grandmother It is funny, whimsical and more You will drop a tear too!

A fairytale with a twist!

This story grabs your attention just on the first page. It is a well written story of a misunderstood child learning how to deal with both grief and forgiveness. I fell in love with all the characters from the bratty kid to the uptight landlord, the story keeps you guessing till the very end!

I'm not sorry

I'm so happy I read this book. 😊 It was a gift from my daughter one birthday..it became one of my favorites..💗

I absolutely loved this book!

Once I started reading this book, I could barely stand to put it down. It was a wonderful read! I laughed, and cried, and cheered for the grandma and her granddaughter. I will not share this book with anyone unless I am sure to get it back!

Brilliant storytelling

This is a darling book. It's absolutely a pleasant surprise to read. The story is told from a child's perspective on life and death and it's absolutely beautiful. Could be a great goodnight read to children as well.
