Tina is devastated by the loss of her beloved husband but takes comfort in the knowledge that Grim was deeply loved by the community of former slaves he had treated with such kindness. Years later, as a 97-year-old woman, Tina reflects on her extraordinary life with Grim, forever grateful that he saved her from a life of slavery and showed her the true meaning of love before his passing. Though she never remarried, Tina cherished the profound bond she shared with Grim until the end of her own days.
