The book is dated..... However, model submarine technology has come a long way in the past ten years. The basics in this book are excellent and that is just a starting point for this great new R/C hobby. Today there are kits available from suppliers all around the world. This is not an inexpensive hobby to say the least. You are talking about a submarine with all the functionality and capabilities you want to build into it. They vary in size and scale. A German U-boat Type VIIc at 1/32 scale is almost seven feet long. Most of the modern submarines are structured around a wet hull with a Water Tight Compartment (WTC) mounted within the hull. This is where all the electronics are contained, such as; a radio receiver, Hydro-plane servo/servos, rudder servo, level control micro-computer device, depth control micro-computer device, etc. You can let your imagination run wild....If you are interested in this hobby, then this book is a good primer. The next thing to do is contact the "Subcommittee" for additional online information...
