Though published in 1985 through Washington University Press, this small wonder of a book by Dr. William Robertson still resonates through today's litigious healthcare environment with jewels of wisdom for today's physician, risk manager and anyone else wishing to avoid being sued for medical malpractice. Utilizing the Socratic method employed by educators of lawyers, Dr. Robertson clearly utlizes real case examples to show how to alter or eliminate certain risk exposures that lead to physicians and hospitals being sued for medical malpractice. The 30 specific analyses of specific risks and how to beneficially alter them that are contained in the Appendix are simply invaluable. The topics discussed range from "head injury monitoring" to "multiple M.D.'s writing orders" to "outside lab reports" -- all of which are directly applicable in today's litigious healthcare environment.
