MacGowan's Ghost

Gabe MacGowan wants to move on, but his friends, the ghosts of the Odin's Thumb Inn and Pub, scare off all potential buyers. He needs to escape his wife's death and wants his son to have a stable home. At his wits end he calls in Allie Morgan from America to get rid of his ghosts. Allie Morgan arrives at the Scottish village and finds it isn't the ghost she needs to help, but the owner, Gabe MacGowan. MacGowan's Ghost is hauntingly wonderful. Gabe and Allie are great, but the ghosts take over the story. I loved them all. Cindy Miles take on ghost is refreshing and I love how Allie feels for them all. Ms. Miles made me laugh, cry and sigh. MacGowan' Ghost shows that ghosts don't have to be scary. They can be fun and loving. The Scottish Village is one I won't mind living in. Gabe just breaks my heart with his struggles. Ms. Miles gives us a peek, but makes us work for it right along with Allie. Allie is so wonderful and her interaction with the ghost is one of the best parts of the story. Pure delight!

This is the first book I have read by Cindy Miles and I have since ordered all of her books. MaGowan's Ghost is pure whimsy and I LOVED IT! The characters are charming, the story is fresh and exciting and I had a hard time putting this book down and hated to see it come to an end (even though the ending is wonderful). Hats off to Cindy Miles for creating a story that is pure entertainment and I think the mystery, humor & romance, with a few quirky ( & mostly) likable ghosts thrown in the mix is just the best for a fun, enchanting get-a-way read. I am so glad I bought this book and can't wait for more. Hats off to Cindy!

A book that stays with you....

I find a good book makes you feel like you are part of the story but a great books is when you can't stop thinking about it even when your done -this is official a great book. It was different than her previous spirit books but the story of Allie Morgan and Highlander Gabe MacGowan was very special. Allie business is to help spirits cross over and help the living deal with their ghosts. She gets hired by Gabe MacGowan and flys to Scotland where she finds a town full of ghost. She helps Gabe heal after his wifes death. This story makes you want to fly to Scotland and experience even a 10th of life that is in this book. Enjoy! I would also suggest all of this authors books; Spirited Away (Signet Eclipse) , Into Thin Air (Signet Eclipse) , Highland Knight (Signet Eclipse) , Thirteen Chances due out September 2009 and A Highlander Christmas (Anthology--A Christmas Spirit due out November 2009).

A little different from previous but still great

I have read all of Cindy Miles' books and this one did not disappoint. Like another reviewer wrote, it is a bit different from her previous books but it is still a good read. I would not say it is my favorite of her books, but it's still a fun, light easy read. The book can be read as a stand alone but she does bring in characters from her previous book Highland Knight towards the end. I highly recommend her previous books to be read in order.

Another great book from Cindy Miles

I've read each of Cindy Miles' previous releases, starting with SPIRITED AWAY. She writes the kind of heroes and heroines (and ghosts!) I adore. I don't want to spoil things, but the set up for this story is a little different than Miles' previous books, but still within the "world" that she writes so well. Readers will not be disappointed! Gabe is a bit darker, and more complex than her previous heroes, but the endearing Allie is the perfect woman to turn his life around. The attraction between them is electric, and the love story completely satisfying. Cindy Miles gets better and better with each book! This one goes on my keeper shelf with her others.
