Outstanding Book and Author

As a former Executive Director for a birthing organization, I highly recommend this book. Brenda has been a doula for approximately 15 years and has an amazing way with her clients. She offers support, care and the utmost respect for women and men as they prepare to give birth. She knows birthing and pregnancy like the back of her hand. She is well respected in the birthing community and is loved by her clients. Her book is just what any soon-to-be mother needs. It is well written, covers many neglected topics and is easy to read and understand. Her agenda is simply to educate those families preparing to give birth. You cannot go wrong with this book. And it is a wonderful gift for any baby shower. I highly recommend the book and Brenda Lane as an author!

Enjoyable and Helpful

As a new grandmother this book was wonderful as a refresher for my daughter's pregnancy and birth of my grandchild. As the authors state in their introduction, "guidelines are constantly being updated" and there were many new ideas presented that were different from my own pregnancies. I appreciated the authors' depth of knowledge and obvious care and concern for women in their journey of pregnancy and childbirth. Every pregnancy is different and the authors acknowledge and allow for the many choices and decisions that each woman will have to make. I loved the layout of the book with the concise chapters, the tidbits of information, and the precious photographs. In our fast-paced society, the size and format make it a great "take-a-long" book as you are waiting in the various places we wait (but not while driving, please). I highly recommend this book for all pregnant or planning to be pregnant women and their support system. There is a huge variety of information packed in this delightful guide.

Excellent Research and Helpful Information

I feel this book is better then most pregnancy information books. The authors created a book filled with helpful information and checklists for each month of pregnancy. As a birth Doula, I recommend this book to families for interesting tips pertaining to every stage of pregnancy and childbirth. Enjoy!
