If you need this its great

Job Hunting is a touchy subject these days, we all need all the help we can get in this economy! If you are looking for a job and are unsure of the online platform for searching for employment this is a good book to help you get your feet warm. Depending on your demographics this book may be advanced for you or if your like me it was a little, not to be snobby, unnecessary. I like using http://www.Hound.com to look for jobs because it has jobs only from employer websites and far more jobs than you will find on other job boards.

Exceptional book!

Easily the best book about job hunting using the Internet I have found, and one of the better all around books on job-hunting, period. Unlike many other books on the subject, it is not just a list of websites, soon to be outdated. Though hundreds of websites are listed, that isn't the book's focus; instead, the authors talk about different job hunting approaches, the effectiveness of these various methods, and how the Internet can be used to increase the chances of finding a job, regardless of the approach used. In most cases, this can be a real eye-opener. Anyone who has tried to find a job using the Net has no doubt found that it is not as simple as just posting a resume on Monster. Instead, the book tells you which job-hunting methods work best (and which ones don't), and goes on to teach you how the Internet can be used in any kind of job hunt, whether you spend most of your job-hunting time in front of a computer or not. The authors place a heavy accent on learning how to use the Internet as a research tool; they go beyond simple search engine use, and even delve into finding the information that search engines themselves can't find. They explain why the job boards are so ineffective (evidently, only about 4% of job-hunters find employment through the job boards), and the best ways to use networking in your job hunt. Written in an easy and often humorous style, I found the book to be extremely helpful and informative. Highly recommended.

A good book much improved

Having seen previous editions of this book, I was pleased to find that the book has been expanded and updated; it's even physically bigger than before. Some chapters appear to have been completely rewritten; the ones on Internet research and job sites are especially good. The authors also have a web page for posting updates to the book, a necessary addition for any book about the Internet these days. The book does not list every possible job site on the net; but it does list the ones the authors think best, and they explain why. They also explain the best ways to use the net for researching companies, professions, and jobs. I thought the book much more honest than many others available on the subject. An excellent book for any job hunter these days.

Bolles tells it like it is out there on the Internet

Richard Nelson Bolles designed this guide to be used with his book; What Color Is Your Parachute? He gives a realistic picture of the pros and cons of job hunting on the Internet. He lists sites where you can find; 1) Job announcements; 2) Places to post your resume; 3) Information on organizations that interest you; and 4)People to connect and network with. Four years after the book is published, addresses are probably out of date. However, he reviewed the sites personally and has written a knowedgeable book about the actual experience of using the Internet. This review was adapted from Learning A Living; A Guide to Planning Your Career and Finding a Job for People with Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Dyslexia by Dale S. Brown
