Jenna's Hero
Jenna Reaves is the granddaughter of the beloved children's author Beatrice Reaves who wrote the Lost Jenna series. She's alone now with the overwhelming task of cleaning out her grandmother's house. Beatrice was a neat hoarder. The wording in her will gave the impression a final manuscript to Lost Jenna exists somewhere in the piles of papers and boxes that fill the house. Jenna always knew she was the Lost Jenna in the stories. Her only interest in the manuscript, if it exists, is to know the end of her story.
Blaine Richards sees his sister Becky's neighbor on her lawn tackling an overgrown crepe myrtle he feels compelled to help. Her red hair is what caught his attention. She's not too friendly and disappears inside the house before he's even finished trimming the plant. After he expresses curiosity about Jenna and her house, his sister encourages him to invite her to dinner. Becky is learning French cooking and wants opinions about her skills. She also wants to see her brother settle down. Blaine is a successful children's author with some past traumas that inform his writing. As the children of international doctors who focused more on their careers than their children, Blaine and Becky have always taken care of each other. They are twins and that's what twins do.
Jenna never tells Blaine about her grandmother or Lost Jenna. Blaine never has a reason to tell her that Beatrice Reaves was his mentor and saved his life. He loved the Lost Jenna stories and that Jenna. Beatrice's passing was never publicized because of the search for the mystery manuscript. As the pieces of the puzzle come together for both Jenna and Blaine, the past threatens to ruin their future.
