Easy to Read and Understand on End-Times Escatology

There are literally hundreds of books on the Biblical End-Times, and I confess I have read many of them. Some are quite alarming, while others are so convoluted they nearly require a divinity degree to understand. This book is different than all the rest in several ways, and I found it quite refreshing in the unique approach it takes to the often times complex and troubling subject of end-times Bible prophecy. This book is written for the lay-person. You do not need to be a Bible authority to understand the author's thought-line. Scriptures are quoted in full so you don't even have to look them up yourself. The ideas presented are straight-forward and logical. Any person can understand this book! The Author, Jim Fletcher, begins by stating why so many secular sources do not accept the Bible as valid in today's world. It is true that the Bible is viewed by many people as out-of-date, old-fashioned, and irrelevant to today's world. Fletcher takes on these critics, acknowledges their point of view, and counters it with his primary assertion that the inerrancy of Bible prophecy proves the Bible true. His entire premise rests on the resurrection of the nation of Israel from the dust heap of conquered ancient civilizations. The Bible predicted that the ancient nation of Israel would be defeated, and its inhabitants scattered throughout the known Roman world. This actually occured in 721 BC and 586 BC, when Assyria and Babylon defeated the divided nation of Israel. In the New Testament, Jesus himself predicted the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem within a generation of his time, and this took place in 70 AD when Rome sacked Jerusalem, burned the Temple and leveled the city of Jerusalem to the ground. These are historical realities that anyone can verify. Despite the total destruction of the nation of Israel, and the captivity of the Israelites, the Bible's prophets (Isaiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Joel et al) also wrote that in the end-times, Israel would be reestablished as a nation. Incre3dible as it may seem, an insignificant nation that had not been a nation for over 2500 years would be "resurrected" and play a major role in the times before Jesus' Second Coming. Think about the significance of this for a moment - what other nation ceased to exist for over 2000 years, yet reemerged to play a major role in the world? There is only one answer - Israel. Israel became a modern-day nation on May 15th, 1948, miraculously survived three wars by a consortium of Arab nations determined to destroy it, and despite being a rather insignificant nation in terms of population, it is the focus of the entire world today. Jim Fletcher fleshes out the amazing, almost incredulous prophetic history of Israel, and proposes to the reader that the restoration of Israel is a modern-day miracle fulfillment of Bible prophesy. Through the miracle of Israel, Fletcher posits the Bible is true and relevant today, despite the criticisms of naysayers bo

It's The End Of The World As We Know It And I Feel Fine

This is a great book with a bit of comic relief about a very serious subject. Jim Fletcher has a light-hearted but matter of fact approach when addressing subjects of belief. Basically, there is only one truth and you can choose to believe it or not.

Bible prophecy for bloggers

If the author wanted to reach a new audience with this fresh approach to Bible prophecy, I believe he's succeeded. Using "story" and imagery so important to younger audiences today, the Blogging Generation, Fletcher manages to highlight the accuracy of the Bible through the fulfillment of predictive prophecy. He does this without the usual prophecy jargon. I'd highly recommend this book for any friend or family member you know is either a skeptic or struggling with their Christian faith. A major league home run.

Hitting the Nail on the Head

Jim Fletcher nails the essence of what it means to grasp the timeless truths of Gods Word in a culture washed with fear in these last days. I think for me, it seems, that sometimes I can miss the forrest for the trees but with an author like this he clearly removes the facade of culture and points us back to the hand of God in todays world, and that is where true peace and rest is found. Often today we find countless books within the contexts of christianity that seem to be filled with much opinion but lack the strength and balance found in the whole counsel of God. Jim Fletcher does a great job of relating much of pop culture while still showing the relevancy and validity of the Bible. The many references, "sound bites" and quotes from our world today bring a real world feel to what, to often is a distant faith, bringing us back to knowing who is really in control!!!

Great book!

This book has such a refreshing approach to a subject that is > generally either a book of fluff or one full of heavy doctrine. It
> is a book for real people who are wanting real answers. I loved the
> examples from pop culture and how the author weaves what we see and hear
> everyday about God and the Bible with solid answers to the constant
> flood of criticism. He also uses tons of new views and little
> known prophecies from Israeli weapons experts to Nazi war
> criminals. I have always heard the phrase, "God is in control,"
> but I never understood just how much. I would highly recommend
> this book.
