Is There More to Life than What We Know: A Spiritual Journey and Awakening to Finding God is the story of the development of author Joseph LoBrutto's spiritual gifts. LoBrutto is a psychic medium who practices in Florida. In the book, the author discusses his journey as a psychic through childhood visions to his current work as a medium who connects the living with the deceased. Throughout his story, LoBrutto honors the presence of God in his abilities and his work. "My childhood visions were a common occurrence for me (1)." The author's early visions included a Native American and an Irishman. He learned from his mother that both his maternal great-grand mother and uncle were psychics. While no work towards nurturing his skills occurred during his childhood, the gifts did not leave him. In fact, as LoBrutto grew older his interest in his abilities increased. LoBrutto discusses his two marriages and the support each of his wives gave him in pursuing his interest in metaphysical science. The author describes the courses he took to develop his skills while also managing the everyday difficulties of life. Through his classes, LoBrutto learns that he is not only a psychic-medium, but also a trance channel, that is "a person who goes into a trance and a spirit entity merges with that person's body and soul (11)." The author is the channel of a spiritual Collective that includes the Ancient One, Indigo, Patrick, Genevieve, and Sparrow Hawk. LoBrutto views his psychic and channeling abilities as gifts from God. The spirits he channels have informed LoBrutto that he is a reporter for Christ currently and in his former lives. In the book, an example of the author's reportage includes the story of Jesus with a metaphysical slant. LoBrutto also channels a spirit, Genevieve, who speaks about relationships: "You do experience growth in a relationship; each person you are tied to gives you a new lesson in life and you must have this karmic lesson to grow in life (102)." Obviously, this not a typical memoir: LoBrutto is open and brave and honest in sharing these amazing happenings in his life. While there is often some disbelief and even a sense of the ominous associated with psychic abilities, LoBrutto's approach to explaining the various parts of metaphysical science includes the primary message of love and brotherhood that is the cornerstone of Christianity. The author does not view his gifts as separate from his faith. Is There More to Life than What We Know is an intriguing blend of New Age philosophy and Christianity. It is a personal account of the blessings that come with the pairing of powerful insight and a firm belief in a higher power.

Incredible, something to think about!

I'm normally not a New Age reader or believer, but listening to my wife rave about this book got my curiosity going. First, the title Is there more to Life, really fits this book. It made me question life in general. Like maybe we are not alone and life does exist elsewhere. That maybe Angels or what the author described as Spiritual Beings are looking out for us. I was raised a Christian and believe in God but after reading this book I have become a stronger believer in God. It made me think of the afterlife and how our soul will live on. And I have to say that The Promise chapter was incredible; it was as if Jesus himself narrated it. For years my wife was a strong believer in the New Age way of thinking, now I have to admit that she maybe right, that this book does give me something to think about. Michael

Beautifully Written

I finished reading this book and I loved it. I actually didn't put it down until I finished it! Another one of my friends is reading her copy and loving it also. The author have put this book together so beautifully. While the author is telling us his story from the beginning of his experiences, it really flows. So many of the things the author have said about the guides and how he grew step by step are wonderful. The authors experiences are helping me to understand part of my own. Very particularly, when he becomes apart of the Christ consciousness and the term "Collective" for all those who are part of this is for me extremely powerful. I have always been absorbed by the life and teachings of Jesus and just have to say that I'm very happy to understand the Collective perspective of his life. I bought three copies of this book. My daughter can't wait to get hers (which I'm mailing tomorrow). I am sure I will be buying more for others. Blessings, Rev. Gloria
