Little Patrick is an Emperor penguin who feels that he wants to be something different to all the other penguins. He isn't interested in school and he hates math. All he really wants to do is to be able to fly. He imagines himself flying high above the heads of all the other penguins, looking down on them and the snowy, ice-bound landscape from above. But his mother and father have other ideas for him.They patiently explain to him that he has a very important job to do. When he is older he must look after an egg, while the females are fishing for food, and he must also learn how to play the piano as well as a song to sing for a very important reason. Patrick isn't too impressed. Playing the piano and singing doesn't sound as exciting as flying.But as time goes on the little penguin learns some important lessons about effort, hard work and diligence and why this song is so significant. And for Patrick, the singing of this song, and learning to play piano, shows him that you can truly soar without actually flying.
