This book helped me stay sane during an insane time

Regardless of whether this book "works" or not(and it did for me and three others I lent it to) it helped me calm down and feel more positive and empowered during this rotten time. It was like having an older sister giving me advice. Not intended as a replacement for therapy, it gave great reassurance during a traumatic crises. It does remind you that he must "change" too, but gives no details on how he should. That may be the subject of a different book! My husband chose the route of counselling himself. Without basic changes on BOTH sides, it wouldn't have been worth it for me. However, whether the techniques in this book bring him back or not, you will find yourself healthier after using them, maybe even despite yourself!

Asks a lot of effort of the injured party!

I have used the methods outlined in this book and they DO work -- but be prepared to swallow your pride and do a lot of the work yourself. This book asks nothing of the straying mate except that he come back and not do it again. IF you can live with that, then by all means buy this book and USE IT. On the other hand, you might decide after awhile (as I did) that the jerk isn't worth it and drop him like a bad habit -- AFTER breaking him up from the girlfriend, of course.
