Ah yes, I can follow the love trail. Kate August is obsessing over the pictures from the society pages kept on Judge Thorne Barrington. She has been following the trail of Jack the Tripper, who is attacking his victims with bomb mails. Three years ago, Judge Thorne Barrington was the first victim to receive a bomb. Now he hides in the dark. Then the bomber seemed to pick a victim every six months except the latest bomb kill was just three months ago. Kate has an unexpected run-in with the Judge and she knows that he sent her a dud bomb to teach her a lesson. She reacts like most all females and runs on hyped emotions. Boy does she blow it. She keeps in close contact with her friend the cop, Byron Kahler who is charge of the original Atlanta bombing. He will protect her from "Jack". She is 32 and been around [used goods] - Judge Thorne does not let on as to any of his affairs. Good old Southern honor! Wilford Mays was an "alleged bomber" who hated Judge Thorne. What a character. And poor ol' Kate was the one to find the latest victim, her boss, Lew Garrison. What a mess! Definitely Recommended -- [this is one of the early stories] the mystery just leads you one. [I peeked]
