While this is a detailed book about Mercer college football. It is actually much more than that. It may not be a history of college football, but it gives an insight that a broader history probably would not. I enjoyed the book and learned much, but I did not read every word. I skimmed (or even skipped) game reviews when they were one among many and of course you can do the same or read every word if you like. The author relied mostly on newspaper accounts, but he was also able to interview a coach and some players to give mored depth to the story. I bought the book on impulse super cheap someplace and you can do the same. At the remainder price it is certainly a worthwhile read.
