In the early twenty-first century the earth, which had been giving forth signs of its impending demise, began to collapse and turn on mankind. Tsunamis of epic proportion took hundreds of thousands of lives. Volcanoes that had been dormant spewed forth and exploded with little warning. The sun began to burn through the dwellings humans had made for themselves. From the vestiges of this world came the last journal ever written upon the earth. Book Excerpt:5,534 Days Underground. I was born in a place once called Seattle, on the western shore of what was once the United States of America, in the year 2035. The world as I first knew it held wars and rumors of wars, but mostly peace. There was technology, heating, air conditioning and food. So much food. This was after Noah's ark was discovered and plundered, but before the sun had given off sunbursts that killed a third of mankind, and before mankind was forced to go underground to survive. There are not many now who remember life prior to survival. I myself remember only small, vague pieces. My name is Serrano. This is my life.
