Spiritual Health for the Body

I love this book. It has all the information in it to address the inner, spiritual aspect of health and dieting and exercise. We live in a world that cries, "Lo here, and Lo there" when it comes to dieting and the newest gimick and secret on how to lose weight. It could be dangerous for our health, but that doesn't matter when it comes to padding the financial pockets of greediness. This book addresses the right attitude, the right focus and the right way to battle this enemy we call "fat, unhealthy and out of shape". Weight loss is a spiritual battle, whether we know it or not. Why put just a bandaid on something that is festering deep within the soul? I highly recommend this book ! Pamela Registered Nurse

"I'VE MET THE MINISTER/AUTHOR IN PERSON"

Her True life testimony is very powerfeul and all that she has gone through. I heard her speak on October 1, 2005 in Virginia and boy was she powerful. Not until she put GOD first did her fitness for life work out. I'm buying the book today and will come back with my result after reading the book. I must say if her book is anywhere as powerful as her VHS tapes ministering GODs work through song, dance, praise and exercise it's awesome. I am now working out with 2 of her tapes and can feel the power of exercising with spiritual music. You have to be focused on GOD first before your Fitness Life will work for.

Do all things in His name?

I thought I had read and seen everything there was to see to on the subject ofweight loss. I have even tried a multitude of plans, which in the end promisethe same results with similar methods. Most of these plans and methods willwork for a little bit of time, but none of these plans have or promise whatFIT FOR GOD does - a relationship with God. La Vita Weaver bringsinspirational energy to a field that is filled with assurances of betterhealth and bodies that often leave people feeling hopeless and likefailures. In FIT FOR GOD, Weaver shares her story of food addiction and howshe finally took control of her health.FIT FOR GOD outlines a plan for living that is Biblically based and supportedby scientific information. Weaver marries the weight loss struggle with yourpersonal relationship with God. She suggests a number of motivationaltechniques that are designed to let the person grow spiritually whiledeveloping better eating and exercise habits. She presents the plan as aneight week journey which could take longer depending on where you areemotionally in your fitness journey.Although Weaver utilizes some of the basic tools of the trade i.e.,journaling, increasing water intake and exercise, she couples them withbiblical scripture that brings new meaning to getting fit. One of the thingsthat make this plan workable is that the author encourages readers to changetheir view of things. For example, week two is on increasing water intake.Weaver begins this section by discussing the significance of water in theBible she then segues into personal anecdotes on how she increased herintake. She shares that she calls water "glory" then pointedly asksreaders, "Have you had your glory today?"FIT FOR GOD is weight loss from a Christian perspective that eliminates thehopelessness of failed weight loss methods.Reviewed by Diane Marburyof The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

The first half of the book alone worth the price

I'm not even done with the book yet, but I have to say, I am really enjoying it so far. When Pastor Weaver describes her life...the troubled upbringing, the poor life choices, the panicked feeling of not being able to help herself...I can relate. When she talks about her approach to dealing with the pain...I can relate. When she states that the solution is in God FIRST, and getting into His Word, I am nodding my head enthusiastically. I feel that this is what God has been telling me for a while now. I'm just a slow listener. Her eight week plan starts off with preparing yourself through scripture first, and I think that that is extremely important. For most of us, the thought of dieting again is filled with anxiety and panic. We try to do it under our own power, and for me, that has never, ever worked for the longterm. I highly recommend this book for Christians, especially women. And for anyone else willing to hear the message in it.
