Pulling off the Covers

Man... If you could describe the feeling you get when you read this book, it would probably be of a deflated balloon. This book is so excelllent but you can not dismiss the things he pulls the cover off on. Luckily, this is the very direction God wanted me to go in. The book will be a blessing to all who reads it.

Habitual Toe-Stepper

One thing is for sure: this book will step on your toes. That is definitely not a bad thing. Schaeffer did a great job of fully covering the "faking church" epidemic that I truly believe exists. I dare say no lay person, pastor, or any other church goer can read through this book and not be convicted on at least one, if not several things. The only drawback was that the book seemed to be a tad bit repetitive at times. Either that or Schaeffer would drive the point home, and then some. It's not enough to degrade the 5 star rating I'm giving it, but I felt I did need to mention it. I hope to use this book in a small group in the near future. Now.....if only Schaeffer could come up with some group-friendly materials to go along with the book... :).

Hard to chew....good to read

This book is an easy read. The only thing slowing me down is all the things he points out that I am definitely guilty of! This is not a "feel good" book, nor is it a "every one else is wrong" book.....it is a book that will call out secret beliefs and motives in you & make you face them.
