Book Overview

"Every Day is a High Holy Day" is like spending a week end in the woods. Through "Every Day is a High Holy Day", Ernie Hawks takes me on his morning walk through the sacred forest, up the majestic mountain, over the winding trail. He introduces me to Bear and Elk and Eagle. I am reminded of the sacred breath of Spirit and my soul is nourished. He draws me back into nature and I am renewed. His stories feed my soul. "Ernie has the gift of sharing his wilderness experience and spiritual insight in a way that nourishes the soul of his readers. This is more than a collection of adventures. It is a book of spiritual inspiration." Rev. Marilyn Muehlbach, former Chair of the Board of Unity Worldwide Ministries and current board member of Unity World Headquarters. Ernie Hawks' passion for the out-of-doors has led to extensive activities in nature photography, bicycling, hiking, and studying Spirit in the wild. These activities have consumed hundreds of rolls of film, thousands of miles on a bike, several pairs of boots and many hours in communion with Spirit. He now hunts with a camera and a pen. It is way to go a hunting without the inconveniences of hunting laws and regulations. Taking photos allows him to shoot babies in the spring, and he does not worry about limits or seasons, licenses or tags. He shoots from his car and across roads, even in the city. In fact, he gave up using anything else while still a teen. The real truth is he wanted the trophy without the mess and carryout of a kill. He then turns the experiences into stories. Spirit is in all the elements and all the animals, so he studies them from that perspective. Ernie also has a love of family and many times his adventures are with his greatest mentors his grandchildren as they make their life's discoveries. Living in the woods of North Idaho with his wife Linda, he creates a regular column for "The River Journal," "The Hawks Nest." Ernie has contributed to "Science of Mind" magazine, "Creative Thought" magazine and several spiritual newsletters. His spiritual connection to the universe, all its inhabitants, and of our oneness to everything is a favorite topic.
