What a fun book!

I have no familiarity with who the author is, but am familiar with Carol Lea Benjamin's "MOTHER KNOWS BEST" which I've loved for 12+ years. I bought this book in 2006 when we got our most recent puppy. We love the book! It is SO cute, and we have had such fun teaching our young dog many of the tricks in the book. There is nothing inhumane or cruel that we could see in the techniques. In fact, our Puppy Kindergarten teacher was teaching some of the same tricks the same way. Highly Recommended! Lots of fun. And we bought a few copies as gifts for friends of ours who've added new dogs to their families recently. Wonderful book!

Great book

This book teaches an owner how to teach fun tricks to the dog. It is easy to understand and easy to teach. Tricks help make better dogs.

A fun and inexpensive hobby you and Fido will love!

The director for the largest school of theatrical dogs on the E.C. demonstrates how to teach nearly 100 tricks you and your dog will enjoy performing together. The book easliy divides tricks into related classes. Also includes an aptitude chart to help the novice select the easiest tricks for his dog. Basic obedience training is not included in this book but is necessary for some of the tricks.

A fun and easy book to read.

Close to 100 dog tricks are described in this extremely easy to read book. Tricks that take no longer than a day or two for your dog to master to some really difficult tasks. The authors write with a lot of humour and wit as they explain how tricks should be taught to your dog to make it fun and exciting. Tricks range from the fun and silly "play dead" or "blowing out a match" to the more energetic like "jumping rope" or "climbing a ladder". My dog Daisy and I highly recommend it.

Many books exist about understanding and training dogs. But THIS one is something else! The whole slant of Dog Tricks involves how to teach you and your dog how to have fun with each other in clever and amusing ways. Everything from training your dog how to give you a kiss (begin with a smear of butter on your cheek!) to snatching (and running away with) your chess opponent's rook is covered with a wonderful mix of elegant simplicity and silly shared amusement. Dog Tricks is really the one book to get if you want to learn the potential of "a really good time with a dog!"
