I relocated from my beloved Motherland where I was born hoping to find a new Motherland. I fled the uncontrolled, overwhelming sprawl of houses, roads, and shopping centers. I fled the incursion of people who gave no value to the wild creatures and beautiful land they were destroying. My first book, My Motherland, depicts my life there. It is a chronical of that place, of my people, and those beautiful open spaces. That land filled with beauty, opportunities for a kid to experience adventures, to experience interactions with the wildlife, with the beauty of its woodlands, farm fields, streams, and lakes. It is the story of a little country boy and how his surroundings formed him. In 15 short years it was all destroyed, and I could no longer live there as I wished to live. I gambled everything on that move. I discarded a lucrative opportunity for much higher income, a richer, more expansive career. I gave up that known situation for an unknown future assured to be a success only by intimation and a self-confidence in my ability to produce for my new employer. Would this unknown place and employment deliver on the promise I saw in them? Would I be able to provide for my family as I wished? As you read these accounts, you will discover my relocation provided me with all the experiences I sought. It also provided jobs with advancement that supplied adequate income to satisfy my need to accomplish. But most importantly this new Motherland did indeed provide me with the life experiences I sought. This book is a chronical of the adventures and experiences I found in that new land. It includes many hunting and fishing adventures and experiences in conservation projects. My new home? Idaho. Join me as I travel through 44 years of wonderful hunting and fishing adventures. Follow along as conservation projects are initiated and the battles joined. Decisions to find a new home sometimes do not work out. This one did. I am one of the luckiest ones.
