Good series

Being the last book in the series, this was a good read. I'm glad it wasn't too over dramatic and the plot wasn't stretched out. It moved along well, and there were no loose strings at the end. The artwork is fantastic! It really captures the characters' personalities well!

KAZUKI GOES PROFESSIONAL

After a year of creating his own doujinshi Kazuki has attracted some important attention. While he is selling some of his books at the Comic Party, Makiko Sawada, editor-in-chief of "Monthly Comic Z" who is interested in picking up his work for her magazine, approaches Kazuki! Eimi is standing right there when this happens and of course, since she is one of the most popular doujinshi creators, she feels slighted because she feels like she is being passed by for a rookie. The always overexcited Taishi introduces a contest to settle the matter. The two manga creators will square off at the next Comic Party. Whoever sells the most books will get an ongoing original series in Monthly Comic Z. Kazuki takes up the challenge, not because he thinks he can win, but in order to relight Eimi's creative fires after years of cranking out commerciallly safe material. Meanwhile, his friend Mizuki continues to feel left out of his world and begins to accept her fate that her and Kazuki will have no future together. This last volume of Comic Party is an instant classic. It kinda side-lined the usual humor for a bit of seriousness. This was necessary because futures are being decided and relationships are in danger of being ended forever. It was a nice touch to include the origins of why Eimi and Yuu don't get along and why Eimi is the person she is today. While Comic Party might not be the most realistic depiction of manga culture accessible to us, it IS the warmest, funniest, most human take. Underneath it, there is a message of committing and acheiving your dreams, which I would say a majority of the human race never does. The best volume of the series has been saved for last. If you liked this manga, definitely check out the anime version. Also, the anime and manga for Genshiken. Maniac Road and its sequel Pretty Maniacs are also two other manga along the same lines.
