Classic math puzzles that appear hard but have an understandable solution

Mathematical puzzles and riddles where the problem appears unsolvable and the solution is obvious after it is revealed are commonly grouped into the category of mathemagic. While it may appear to be a misnomer, it is in fact an accurate descriptor of that type of problem. Magical tricks appear impossible when executed by a talented performer, yet if the basis of the trick is revealed, you may be forever disappointed. That is not the case with mathemagic, when you reason out or learn of the solution, your appreciation for the beauty and power of mathematics grows. The problems in this collection conform to the use of the "Classic" qualifier in the title. In general, they are problems that have appeared in the literature many times and in many forms. Yet like the best math problems, they can be worked over and over again without you ever losing your appreciation for what they represent; the enormous sense of gratification one can get from engaging in challenging intellectual pursuits.
