Dramatic, compelling suspense

Joe Patterson and Jessica Thomas were best friends. A bad home situation caused by a drunk mother and a leering stepfather forced Jessica to move to Los Angeles at seventeen. Jessica gets a job at Matte restaurant where she meets Martina Medina who offers her a job as an escort. She gracefully declines. When her mother needs a liver transplant, Jessica accepts Martina's offer. Joe marries Maxie Holstead who provides the impetus for him to enter the political world. As Joe rises, Jessica avoids him because she does not want her background to hurt his chances at becoming a future senator. When a client of hers, Brian Foster, becomes abusive, demanding, and dangerous, Jessica turns to her champion Joe for protection though she knows she can never have the man she loves. Fans of contemporary relationship and dramatic suspense tales will relish Caught in the Rain. The story line enables the audience to see deeply into the prime character Jessica and understand what makes her choose the path she selects. Though the key support players (his wife and her "boyfriend") are too nastily caricaturist, readers will take pleasure from this strong character study that displays the talent of L.C. Compelling and intriguing

L.C. Martin's tale of a young girl's struggle to find happiness kept me turning the pages all night. Her characters are heart-warming and their experiences gripping. She makes the reader care about them and with each turn of the page, has you hoping that things will be okay. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, supense and real life issues.

A particularly thoughtful and deftly written novel

Caught In The Rain by L.C. Martin is a grippingly told story of abuse, love, loss, and hard choices. Jessica Thomas is a woman who flees the horror of her home, takes up the lifestyle of an L.A. escort, and learns how to make the best of her business; meanwhile, her childhood friend Joe embarks on a political career. When they meet again, emotions fly at cross purposes, yet love between any two people has but a slim chance of survival amid deeply buried secrets. Caught In The Rain is recommended as a particularly thoughtful and deftly written novel showcasing the strengths and foibles of human nature.

Caught In The Rain

I entered a contest to win this book, but bought it anyway because of the reviews it's received. The setting described Surf City to a t & I enjoyed the L.A. scenes as well. The story was very exciting and I loved the main characters. The romance between Jessica and Joe sizzled and I hope there's a sequel coming soon.
