This book was first published as an OLDTIMER, the official publication of the Josephine County Historical Society in 1963. Each year, one of the newsletters was replaced by a small book. This is an exact copy of the 1963 OLDTIMER.It includes all the names of the members of the Society at that time. The JCHS has reprinted it over and over. It has been a best seller since it is the simple, but complete, history of the attempt to build a railroad from Crescent City to Grants Pass. This edition was scanned and reprinted by the staff of the Josephine County Historical Society so that a bit of history can be again available to the members and general public. The Josephine County Historical Society is a non-profit organization with no affiliation with any government agency. We operate under the good graces and donations of our membership and concerned friends. If you notice, in 1963 membership was $2.00 per year. In 2014 an individual membership is $20.00 and a family $30.00. We would appreciate it if you would join the society.
