Mainstream vegetarian

After reading The China Study by Colin Campbell, my husband and I decided to try a vegetarian diet. I have lost 60 pounds through Weight Watchers and eating mainly whole grains, fruit, vegetables, and legumes. I was thrilled to find this recipe book. It contains complete nutrition information at the end of each recipe. Some of the recipes have too many calories for my diet, but at least I know that and can modify or omit those recipes. Thanks Betty!

I love this cookbook!!

I have bought a LOT of cookbooks over time and this is by far my favorite. The recipes are easy to follow, the ingredients can be found at any grocery store, the flavors are amazing, and although it is a vegetarian cookbook the recipes easily convert to meat entrees for your meat-loving guests. I have tried about 5 or 6 of the recipes (some twice!) and my husband and I have loved every one of them. I am thoroughly looking forward to trying the rest.

Best Vegetarian Cookbook I Own!!!

I've been a vegetarian for 6 years now and this was my first vegetarian cookbook that I bought, and it's still my favorite. These recipes are quick and easy to make (for the majority anyway) with ingredients that are readily available in any grocery store (lots of veg. cookbooks have ingredients that are so obscure that I can never find them). There are many, many great tasting recipes in this book- even my non-vegetarian friends and family love many of the recipes in this book. And several of them include instruction for adding fish or chicken for those who still would like to include those in their diet. It's a great buy, and you'll enjoy it for years to come!

Great Recipes

The few recipes I have tried from this book I liked. They are easy to prepare and the ingredients arent too hard to find. I didn't think I could make so many good dishes without meat. There is also tips on the bottom of some recipes for adding meat if you wish. Great book.

Excellent vegetarian cookbook!

The recipes in this book are simple but interesting, and use ingredients which can be found at a typical grocery store. Each recipe provides an approximate required preparation and cooking time. Color photos are offered for many of the dishes, and the recipes are well-organized and easy to follow. There are a great many recipes (I didn't count them!), so I find myself reaching for this book often, to find something different to make. I think this is a good book for new vegetarians, as it should erase the common misconception that vegetarian food is difficult to make and requires things like tofu and nutritional yeast! Many recipes suggest a simple meat addition, which would be helpful for families with both vegetarians and meat-eaters.
