Best of Gifts of Good Taste

If you love to make homemade gifts for any occasion, this is the book series to have. I got the Best of...just because I can check these out from our library but wanted one to keep on hand at all times. The ideas are creative, some requiring much more work than I am willing to give, but you can accommodate them to your own level of investment! Anyhow, we are planning to do homemade gifts for Christmas this year, but I wanted something that wasn't just run-of-the-mill, that wouldn't wind up sitting in a drawer or, worse, in the trash! The ideas in here are great and give me a springboard for my own ideas (like I would not have thought to make homemade flavored butters and include a bag of bagels or homemade bread and then tie the gift bag with a cute little spreader knife into the bow!). Great ideas, great recipes.

A flip book of good taste

This is the 2nd time I have found a "flip-book". OK, if you are not old enough to know what that is let me explain. It is a book that you read half way through and then need to "flip" it over to read the other half. Very cool idea as you can put two subjects into one book AND it is easy to find which subject you want! This one is all about recipes and quick to make gifts or packaging. One side has Holiday ideas and the other has Seasons ideas (like Valentines, St. Patrick's Day and Halloween). What better way to keep your recipes together and have a way to give them in the same place. Each recipe has a full page color photo of the item, along with any templates you might need and the recipe itself. Packaging items have directions as well. The Christmas section contains ideas for candy, breads, spreads, cakes, pies, cookies and bars, sauces, seasonings, and mixes and snacks and sips (drinks). The Everyday side has ideas for quick gifts, gifts by the bagful, holiday and friendship gifts and gift baskets. The recipes are all simple as is the directions for creating the packaging items. If you are looking for a gift for a cook, a crafter or someone who does both, this would make a great present!
