In the age of heroes comes the mightiest warrior of them all, Beowulf. After destroying the overpowering demon Grendel, he incurs the undying wrath of the beast's ruthlessly seductive mother, who will use any means possible to ensure revenge. The ensuing epic battle resonates throughout the ages, immortalizing the name of Beowulf.
Pretty good retelling of a tale yet a bit gimmicky

You cannot have too many versions of a classic "Beowulf" handed down verbally for many years and eventually written around 700. It was suggested that the story, when written down, was written by monks and may have been altered for their purpose. Some versions are too far in the “left field”; yet other versions or views can enhance the story. This rendition was just downright fun to watch.
Yep, this is the old English story of heroes and monsters. You may find a few differences in Grendel’s father. Also, Angelina Jolie gets to play a seductive mother.
Unfortunately, the movie relies too much on the CGI gimmick (with a video game look) and many well-known actors.
The version I watched is the director’s cut and Blu-ray. Some good DVD extras help fill in the missing parts of the story.
