insightful,Informative,easy ready-Great tips

Hi am a mom of a 6yr and 3yr triplets.Though this book is geared toward the birth to 3 yrs. i found the information very informative. I wish I had it sooner. It wa easy to read and i found myself wanting to know more about the findings and results. Gave simple tips and instructions to build better bonds with your babies and why it IS so inpmortant. If you are working parents: how to make the best of the time you are able to spend together. the influences of caregivers etc. Most think parenting comes naturaly. Well some are better at it than others. This book is a great resource for new and vetrain parents(and grand parents). I am going to give it as a gift to my new mom friends. And I hope and look forward to the next edition for ages 4 and up!!

A Must-Have For Your Parenting Library

As an early childhood educator and new mom I highly recommend Baby Hearts. Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn score again with this easy-to-read, informative, and practical book. Imagine what schools would look like if all parents implemented even a few of the ideas explored? I'll be giving this along with Baby Signs and Baby Minds to all my expectant friends!

Owner of a dance school finds this book indispensable!

Most of my new dance students are 3 years old and I have seen a wide range of behaviors during their first class. I continually adjust my content to make the classes more appealing but I was at a loss on how the teacher's behavior could better contribute. Having read this book, I now know that childrens' imaginations blossom around the middle of their second year and "the good news is that this ability enables them to have fun pretending to be firemen or ballerinas." But this same imagination causes them to be fearful of new situations "where the chances of encountering something unexpected and scary increase markedly." I now have my teachers greet each child warmly and better explain the dance class before we begin.

Thanks for your Words of Wisdom

I am a working mother of 2 small children and have very little time to read. I was very pleased when I opened the Baby Hearts Book and saw the Quick Reference Quide listed in the Table of Contents! How great to have a handy reference to find the topics a busy mom like me is looking for. I quickly found the section of the chapter I wanted to read thanks to the guide, which matches the pages with the appropriate age of your child. I know I will eventually read the whole book, but until I do, this handy Guide will work wonders and give me the "Words of Wisdom" I need to help my children grow!

Finally, a parenting book that not only tells you what babies need, but how to give it to them!

Probably even better than their first two books, Baby Signs & Baby Minds (and that's hard to do!). As a Mom of twins, I have read many, many parenting books and I am usually frustrated after reading all about "what babies need" without anything that tells me what to DO. The authors have a talent for making scientific mumbo-jumbo make sense to the average (non-PhD) person, and then translating it into practical things I should (or shouldn't) do as a parent. This book in particular helped me to recognize the different personality temperaments of my own three kids, and gave me ideas of what to expect from them in different situations, as well as ideas about how I can help them through scary times. I especailly liked the "How would you feel?" sections throughout the book that help the reader see the world through a toddler's eyes. The set of Dr. Goodwyn & Dr. Acredolo's three books: Baby Signs, Baby Hearts & Baby Minds are the closest thing a parent will find to an "operators manual" for babies!
