Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise Part Two (A War Is Brewing That Team Avatar May Not Be Able

Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise Part Two continues with Aang and Katara being all lovey-dovey on top of Appa and in front of Sokka, Toph, and Momo. Sokka decides to go with Toph to the Beifong Metalbending Academy to avoid all the romance between his sister and the Avatar. Toph’s earthbending slide is a superb technique. During their walk, Toph reveals her story to Sokka about discovering her calling. When Sokka and Toph return to the Beifong Metalbending Academy, they spot Ho Tun, Penga, and The Dark One leaving with their bags. They inform Toph that firebenders seized the academy. Toph bursts in when Master Kunyo is teaching his three firebending students, declaring she wants her academy back. Sokka comes to agreeable terms: in three days, Toph’s and Master Kunyo’s students will battle it out until their opponents sit. Meanwhile, Aang, Katara, Appa, and Momo arrive in Ba Sing Se. While Appa finds his own place to sleep, Aang, Katara, and Momo plan to rest in the spare rooms in Iroh’s Jasmine Dragon. But, the Avatar Aang Fan Club, made up of fan girls, intercepts Aang and Katara, offering them rooms in their fan club headquarters. Katara gets jealous when the other girls obviously flirt with Aang and state that Katara is his “first” girlfriend. At the same time, Ozai recalls their family vacation on Ember Island, where Zuko saved a turtle-crab from a hawk. Shortly after Zuko saved it, he had a complex about protecting the turtle-crab and letting the hawk starve or letting the hawk eat the turtle-crab to survive. Ozai points out that Zuko always felt compassion for the weak but wouldn’t say any more until a later time. At the Beifong Metalbending Academy, Ho Tun, Penga, and The Dark One struggle to move a metallic coin. During a teaching break, Toph pulls Sokka aside and explains how her space bracelet vibrated when she sensed a recruit for her metalbending school. The recruits had to be displaying some intense emotion. Sokka, the motivational bender, lends a hand to Toph to teach the lily livers how to bend metal. Not surprisingly, Sokka’s tactics don’t work with the students, even Penga, who claimed Sokka as her boyfriend the moment she saw him but later dumped him for Ho Tun. Aang has some fun with his fan club by showing them different airbending moves. Katara is worried about Aang spending way too much time with them. She pulls him aside, saying they must leave and see the Earth King. Aang talks about how he had fun, like when he was back with his fellow Air Nomads. Katara realizes how much their time at the fan club meant to Aang and relinquishes her jealousy from before. Fire Lord Zuko meets with Ozai before he travels to the Earth Kingdom. Ozai tries to bang into Zuko’s head that what he says is right because he is the Fire Lord. Zuko argues that he trusts the Avatar but hesitates when Ozai asks if he trusts the Avatar more than himself. I hate how Zuko’s letting his father manipulate his mind. Sokka and Toph plan to use drastic measures to get the students to metalbend, while Kori trains her cousins to use earthbending and firebending together to defend their home. The issue is Kori’s boyfriend Sneers was at the Freedom Fighters’ rally. Kori makes it clear that Sneers has to pick a side. Aang and Katara meet with the Earth King to schedule a meeting between the Earth King and the Fire Lord. However, the Earth King refuses to be weak anymore and declares he will take his army to remove the Fire Nation Colonies himself. Aang disagrees with those terms, and the Earth King deems Aang his enemy. In the meantime, Toph describes the pain and pressure her parents were forcing onto her to be a proper young lady. Now, Toph feels she’s pouring the same pain and pressure on these recruits. Toph decides she will forfeit the fight and sit. What Toph doesn’t know is that her students are listening in on the conversation. In the dead of night, Aang and Katara ride on Appa to notify the civilians of the Fire Nation Colonies
