Remarkable achievement

It is a rare gem of a book which includes the history starting from mythological sources of Tibetan buddhism, Hinduism, Bon-po, going to the lost and forgotten heroes and travellers including the Pundits, the great game and the likes of Hedin, Younghusband and others into Tibet and stories circling the Sacred Mountain of Kailash. This book has a depth to touch not just a historian, specializing in travel accounts or history of India and Tibet, but also touches a pilgrim and a traveller to quite an extent. When I finally stood in front of that extra-ordinary mountain after a land journey of more than thousand miles on a rugged terrain of Tibet, I could remember the echoes from the pages from this book and feel those times and histories still circling that amazing mountain.
