Surprisingly good

I honestly thought this might be influenced by twilight, but it actual pre-dates that series. I liked that the vampires were made from the authors own imagination, yet she stayed pretty close to the traditional kind of vampire. I didn't expect it to be great because of the tacky cover, but I liked it a lot, especially the ending. I feel like the author tried hard to make the book seem modern with the way the characters talked but it could just be that I was born the year it came out XD. I actually like how the main character isn't defined by the way she dresses or by any stereotypes (not relating to her interests). The plot had me a bit confused for a minute there but I eventually caught on to the back and forth on the whole vampire subject. I only give it four stars because I found the way the characters spoke to be cringey and the plot a tiny bit confusing. But other than that, if you're looking for a small book to read and get through, I would suggest this one.

Vamps yes please

So I just found my love of reading again thanks to this book I've always been into the supernatural stuff and always wanted to be brave enough to be goth without caring how people thought of me and with this book I get both I've bought the whole series and can't wait to see how it builds currently on the 4th book if ur into love stories and vampires i definitely recommend this book

A Vampire Kiss to want to have

I like the abnormal. Werewolves, wizards, fairies, but I really like vampires. This book is one of the best I have read. Trust me I have read a lot. The characters are very human and real. Raven is a dream well in her terms a nightmare but her loves of vampires and the darkness she portrays also mixed with the light and love she hides makes her a believable character. Easy to relate too and in any other place then "Dullsville" easy to like. Alexander is a dream guy of many girls. Trust me I'm included. He's an artist dark dreamy. In many (or just Raven's mine and some of my friends)terms a "Goth God". As you read deeper into the book and find out his quirks and ideas it is hard to tell if he really is a vampire. Which makes him all the more interesting. Ellen Schreiber has made the book compelling and interesting. When you really get down to it. We all sorta have our own "Dullsville" and we are like Raven in a way also. Some of us have watched others inch away throughout childhood or took a recess from recess or had a friend like Becky. I guess some people would fine it playing on the setrotype line a little to much. But come on! We do play on it and that's what makes it real. Here's some other horrible vamp books. A sweet girl walking down the street. Vampire boy comes out turns her or kidnaps her or something of that nature. She hates him. Then an event happens that makes them fall madly in love the end. Vampire Kisses is better than that because like I said before a ton of characters in the book you can meet on the street. So I recommend it highly over many of the books I have read. I also apologize to people who like the example of the vampire book I gave but I read one to many of those. If you wanna change read Vampire Kisses.

Strangley I liked It?

To tell the truth I hated this book so much, but I for some reason could not put it down! and for that I had to give it 5 stars because it is very rare for me to find a book I can read from start to finish in a couple of hours!I hated the book because it was such a stereotype. Raven was such a Gothic Stereotype, I have been part of the Gothic culture for 7 years now and I have yet to meet a Gothic person like her, she says the word "Gothic guy" "Goth this" "Goth that" like a million times as if she likes hearing herself say the word, and she just seems to think Gothic people are above everyone else and she is just kinda snobby! With Goth you have to take the Bull crap people give you, but she was such a snob to everyone but her friend. But other then that I thought she was kinda a cute girl! I loved what she did to that guy in the forest (I wont spoil it for others who have not read the book) and I just pictured myself doing that to all my highschool bullies who would pour pigs blood down the back of my shirt and I had to smile so much at how the popular guy was beat down by the misfit! And I loved the ending, it was rally the only thing I loved about the book, it was very cleaver and smart, and makes you think. So I am glad other people have enjoyed it and for some reason I wanna read it again and again, despite the fact I really hate it!Blessed Be!

I couldn't put it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book was fantastic i'm 13 and i loved it i couldn't put it down for all of you out there looking for a quick but awsome vamp read (though there isn't much on vampires) this is the book for you. Raven is just a character most can relate to at times and alexander is such a mysterious character that you just wanna know more. But you will soon find out there are other monsters in "dullsville" monsters that tell lies that make people afraid of the new comers. A great twist at the end one you wont forget. I'm looking forward to the second book which is to be out August 1 of 2005

not quite a vampire book

a pre-P.S. I could have sworn I already reviewed this book!Well I have to say that this book was absolutly great. It is about a 16 year old reject, Raven, who is, in a sense, obsessed with vampires. She has always wanted to meet a vampire, and one day, her dream comes true. Now this book is a love story, but not in the general sense of the word. This book, although it is called a vampire book, does not go in depth about vampires(despite this I still loved it).Although this book has some flaws I can't helps saying that it is one of my favorite books(read it in one day!), and I found I could very much relate to Raven and her dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Together with a very sexy vampire(woohoo!)and the crazy male nemesis(who I have to say, if you have ever read harry potter fan-fics, Trevor is the epitome of Malfoy-ness!dundundun!), this book is a must read.

Great and enchanting!

I loved this book. I am 15 and I think it captured my level perfectly. It is one of those books that you can either look forward to reading each night or finish it in a day (in my case it was 3 hours). Though the book is about vampires, it manages not to be disgustingly goury, though it does make you enthralled with vampires. Just like the summary on the cover flap promises, there is a surprising twist in the end. VAMPIRE KISSES is basically about a sixteen year old girl named Raven who is very pretty, but has always been into vampires and dressing in black. Everybody thinks she is pretty weird and she only has one friend. When a new family moves into a spooky mansion that nobody but her has dared to go in, she is convinced that they are vampires and her curiousity is peaked by a seventeen year old boy named Alexander who never seems to come out. While trying to solve that mystery, she also has to face dealing with a violent bully named Trevor and the dissaproval of her peers and family. I don't want to give anything away, but all in all this is a very good book. It's a combination of romance, suspense, mystery and of course vampires. Trust me, you will really be surprised by the ending, I know I was and I thought I had the whole book figured out. I would say this book is good for reading levels for ages 12-20. At some parts of the book its great for kids and you think the author is moving towards a younger audience, but then it gets into things like sex and stuff and you change your mind. Don't worry, nothing is too bad or I would not recommend it for 12 year olds. I hope this review helped. Enjoy!
