Still love this book!

I'm sorry that this version is out of print and difficult to find because I just love it. My sister sang this story to me when I was a kid. Now I'm over 50 and a Teacher-Librarian. I've bought copies of this for my personal library and for school, where I use it in a lesson for Kindergarteners. I also found an audio version, and play that as the students enter the library with their own teddy bears. After I read them the story, they can have their own teddy bear's picnic (complete with picnic table cloth, picnic basket, plastic plates and pretend food). Prue Theobalds' illustrations are absolutely perfect for Jimmy Kennedy's words. This is a book that young and old will remember and love for a lifetime.

The TeddyBear's Picnic

This is a delightful board book and is perfect for 6+ mos to toddlers. The little ones like being able to turn the pages, and the toddlers enjoy the story and the old-fashioned traditional illustrations. I had not seen the book before but was familiar with the music of the same name, and must say I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the book. Happy Grandma in Virginia : o )

A Favorite

Beautiful, imaginative illustrations, with lots of little details to notice and talk about on every page. This is a favorite. We don't read it, we sing it, so good to get a recording with the song on it if you don't know it.

The Teddy Bear's Picnic--A Book to Treasure

The pictures are enchanting and a source of delightful fascination. They are true to the original written words of the song. There could not be a more perfect marriage of pictures and words. This is truly a treasure to cherish. I wish, however, it was in hardback so it would last longer, as I am sure it will be read to our little granddaughter many times over.

A song turned into a book

This book takes the song `The Teddy Bear's Picnic' by Jimmy Kennedy and gives it illustrations. The song is about how on their day off, all the teddy bears that ever there was will gather there (in the woods) for certain, because today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic. The song then goes on to describe what happens at the picnic. The song is very cute, and has a very catchy tune, which cannot (unfortunately) be heard because this is a book. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and are what makes this book worthwhile. The bears look very cute, cuddly and realistic. The book itself is smaller than a normal book; perhaps that is what the `miniature' in the title means. It is only 0.25 x 5.25 x 4.00, while most picture books are bigger.In my opinion the best way to read this book is with the tune playing, either out loud, or in your head. I think hearing the tune while reading this book adds a certain something that makes the book good. If it weren't for the song, I probably would only give this book four stars. If you haven't heard the song, there are several websites that play it.Loggie log log log
