I read this book when I was about eight, ready for a happy book about a kid and his dog companion. Little did I know, the book should turn into a horrifying mutation of a poor dog that just wanted to be loved and had to be human for that to happen. It was outrageous. It was apauling. It was disgusting in all forms of the word. I downright hated it.

Adorable! A great childrens fantasy.

I have always loved reading, but when my first grade teacher gave me this book when i was six, I read a little of it, then put it down. It wasn't until six years later, I was browsing my book shelves filled with my childhood books that I found this book again. It was a school morning, but I picked it up anyways and started reading it. I couldn't put it down! Sure, it wasn't my reading level, but it was a sweet book, written in a way that makes you want to know what happens next. It's about a little boy named Nick who gets an Aussie puppy named Aleasha instead of his wish-a sister. Aleasha wants Nick to play with her like he would a real little girl, but he doesn't. So she comes up with a plan. She will turn into a human. What happens next? Read the book to find out, or read another review that theaches you more about it. Whatever!! But it's a really sweet book.

An enchanting fantasy for young dog lovers!

The Puppy Sister is a fantasy to be enjoyed by young or the young at heart. Alesha, a Aussie puppy doesn't understand why Nick (her owner)doesn't treat her like a person. Then, as she realizes that she isn't human, she decides that she can become a human. A true masterpice!

This is a very funny book that is sure to make children laugh. Even the student who doesn't like to read will enjoy this book. The illustrations that are included in the book help the reader visualize exactly what the puppy sister looks like. I would recommend it for anyone, ages 8 and up, especially animal lovers. The theme of the book evolves around dogs, brothers and sisters, and family life. After reading this book, readers will never look at their pets in the same way again. The Puppy Sister is the type of book that can be read either privately or aloud to an entire class. This would be an excellent book to use during a discussion of brother and sister relationships. It could also be used with students who are planning on getting a new pet. After reading this book, students will realize just how closely animals sometimes resemble people - both in their actions and looks.

This book will make you cry just because it ends!

I am a 10 year old who reads excessively. I read an adaption of The puppy sister in american girl magazine, and was thrilled to pieces tofind that it was a real book! I bought it when i was 8 or 9, and have continued to read it over and over and over. It's one of those books that is just great. i evendid a chapter from it for a public speaking contest! It is about this dog named Aleasha, who truluy is man, woman, and children's best friend, who gets adopted by the davidson family. she thinks that either she's a human or her family are dogs but the cat tells her otherwise, so she decides to become human through a matter of concentration. When her bro Nick discovers the transformation, they finaly tell the parents, who solve all those complicated, 'for grown-ups' problems with the event. This book is so bombing. You gotta read it! and if you love this book, the only other one i've ever read that measures up is The suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson, so check it out too! This book is good for girls OR boys from age 1-100.

Delightful Children's Modern Fantasy Story

I found this book to be a delight from cover to cover, and looked forward to reading time every night with my two girls (ages 6 and 3), to see what new cleverness the author had in store. A simple story about a little boy and a new puppy quickly adds a new twist - the story is written by the puppy, who thinks of herself as a new little sister for the boy. The first few chapters are a review of what a human household is like from a dog's perspective, with emphasis on the wonderful smells (like Dad's feet at the end ofthe day) and confusing rituals (why am I the only one who has to 'do my business' outside?) encountered by the puppy. The real gem of this story is revealed later, as the puppy decides to try very VERY hard to become a human child, and gradually begins to succeed. The fantasy element here is well-done, with the family going to humorous lengths to conceal the transformation over the months, and the puppy describing all of the funny sensations of changing from a dog into a little girl. Extremely well-written, concise and entertaining for adults and children alike, ( I am purchasing this book in hardback for my permanent library) parents who want to engender in their children a love for reading and a bit of imagination should read the first chapter ofthis book and consider purchasing it as well.
