Buy this book!!

I treasure this book. It is beautiful and heartbreaking. Traer Scott courageously sticks her neck out to bring us haunting images and stories. Both this book and her book Shelter Dogs are money well spent.

Great book that helps charity

This book gives us an idea of how street dogs in Puerto Rico and Mexico live. Scott's unique perspective is amazing and sad all at the same time. Best thing about this book is that a portion of the proceeds is donated to the ASPCA; worth buying it just for that! Buy this book along with her book Shelter Dogs and be prepared to get teary eyed! Thank you.

Traer Scott is a genius

Like her previous book "Shelter Dogs", "Street Dogs" captures a whole range of dog emotions. She is a very talented photographer and apparently is not afraid to go the extra mile to get the photograph she wants.

A photo documentary suitable for any general-interest library

Author photographer Traer Scott journeyed to Puerto Rico and Mexico to capture her black and white photos of dogs living alone or in packs on city streets: thus STREET DOGS offers up a documentary of some thirty street dogs as they seek food, play, and live. She's captured some of the heartbreak of such abandoned animals but also produces a photo documentary suitable for any general-interest library strong in animal portraits, as well as many a college-level art photography library. Street Dogs Soars

Given the subject, I feared Scott's new book would be difficult to peruse, and maybe even impossible to enjoy. But it turns out to be remarkably uplifting--thanks entirely to Scott's amazing talent and keen eye. Her black and white images capture the pathos and unassailable dignity of a stratum of animals that far too many people are bent on ignoring. You can't ignore them now. Their faces and expressions may permanently affect your opinion of purebreds....As we first learned in her bestselling "Shelter Dogs," Scott can write too....her thoughtful introduction hits the perfect balance between necessary background information and personal vignette. You're apt to need a box of kleenex beside you for the final updates on the dogs--machete-victim, Jess, is now living with a family in Washington State, Skippy went to Boston, Elsa is in Florida. There may be hope for the world after all.....
