Stillwatch

Mary Higgins Clark is one of the greatest authors for thrillers. All of her books are scary with a little bit of romance hidden in their. The book Stillwatch came out in 1999, and was a big hit ever since. Stillwatch is one of Mary Higgins Clark's greatest books. I was never one to just pick up a book and read it. I never used to really like reading, but in high school I had to have forty accelerated reading points. Basically I had to read about four books every nine weeks. I could not find anything in the library that really kept my attention, and one that I would finish in a short time. I decided to grab a Mary Higgins Clark book one day when I was looking for a new book. I started reading it and could not put it down. She writes those books that are suspenseful and keeps you guessing throughout the story. Stillwatch is about a reporter, Pat Traymore, who went to Washington, DC to become an even bigger journalist than what she was, by doing an editorial on the famous female senator Abigail Jenkins. While she is there she rents the house that she grew up in, which was the house her two parents were brutally murdered in. She was very young when her parents died and she has only little recollection of what had happened. Pat Traymore is a beautiful, single woman in her mid twenties. Pat is already a big hit when it comes to journalism, but wants to have a TV series with her subject Abigail Jenkins. When starting to research, she meets with an old flame, Congressmen Sam Kingsley, to help her uncover all of the important facts about Senator Jenkins. Abigail Jenkins is a famous senator in her forties that may become the first woman Vice President. At the beginning Abigail did not want to do the editorial, but her adviser talks her into it by telling her how much it could help her win over the hearts of the Americans. Pat's TV series with Abigail Jenkins quickly takes over her life, because of the non-stop work and meetings the Senator endures everyday. While studying about the Senator one night, Pat discovers a note under her front door that says, "I told you never to come back." At this time Pat decides that it's probably just some nobody who hates the Senator and decides that it's just a stupid, little threat. The next night Pat has supper with Sam, and when coming back Pat thought she saw someone in her house. She also found another note, and decided this time she should call the cops. The cops told Pat that they will watch her house and make sure nothing like that happens again. During the rest of the book, Pat uncovers some things about her parents and herself that she never knew. She also discovered some things about Senator Jenkins that could ruin her chance of becoming the first woman Vice President. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a little time, and loves mysteries. Stillwatch not only kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, but also kept me thinking about what was going to happen next. It is one of my favo

An exciting and quick read.

When investigative journalist Patricia Traymore is invited to Washington to make a special TV documentary on prospective Vice Presidential candidate Senator Abigail Jennings, she moves into her familys old home- the scene of a terrible tragedy when she was a child. In the course of her investigations some rather murky truths begin to emerge and she receives threatening letters, warning her to leave the past alone. As she continues to live in the house, old and horrifying memories begin to surface, forcing her to relive forgotten episodes from her childhood and revealing facts which threaten to affect her safety.I found this to be a very good, fast read which is gripping to the last pages.

My First Mary Higgins Clark Book

Traveling from Boston to Washington, D.C., Pat Traymore has come to do a TV documentary on Senator Abigail Jennings of Virginia, the first woman expected to become Vice President of the United States. But before Pat even starts, she receives several threatening phone calls--and, later, a note--telling her not to pursue the program, and to definitely not reside in the same house she had lived in the first three years of her life. This last half of the threat is alarming to her, because very few people know about her parent's murder-suicide in that house, which is part of the reason why she had decided to stay there--so she could find out the truth about their death in private. When she's not searching for clues about that, Pat is delving into Senator Jennings' background, though the woman is reluctant to open up about certain parts of her life, forcing Pat to investigate further. She eventually does get into trouble for that when she reveals too much about the senator's past--involving theft, infidelity, and murder."Stillwatch" is fairly fast-paced and an all-around good read. While partially a political mystery, it's relatively uncomplicated and free of political jargon, so the average reader can understand it. There's also a small amount of romance involving Pat and Sam Kingsley, an older congressman she had had a brief affair with a couple of years ago, but who has now become somewhat involved with the senator. I'm not much of a romance fan, but this underlying storyline was tolerable and doesn't overshadow the main story; plus I admired how Pat acted in the relationship; she wasn't the typical clingy, overly-sentimental heroine. If this book is any indication of what her others are like, then this certainly won't be my last Mary Higgins Clark book.

Gotta' read it!

Patricia Traymore is wealthy, young, and beautiful. She has a stable career in television doing programs on famous American women. Her first subject: Abigail Jennings, senoir senator from Virginia. When Pat moves to her family house in Washington DC, to research Abigail, she has breakthrough memories about her own childhood, which her sub concence has hidden from her. Her mother and father were both murdered when she was 3, and she was slammed against the fireplace and shattered her right leg. With the help of the man she loves, Sam, she digs into Abigail's past, only to find it more troubling than her own. Will her own past be revealed to her? Who killed her parents, her mother or her father? Will Abigail become vice president? What about Abigail's past, was her husband's death an accident? Find out all the answers in "Stillwatch", one of Mary H. Clark's best books. If you like mystery and suspense, you'll love this one!
