A very nice padded, hardback book, that you and/or the women relatives/friends write down their experiences and opinions of their whole lives. I purchased 4, one for me; my mom; step m-i-l; hubby's grandma-so far, I've only received back the one from hubby's grandma. I'm still working on mine. My mom passed away, without giving her copy back to me-step dad got rid of everything that was hers. Step m-i-l divorced f-i-l & probably through it away, b/c it had to do with our family. My hubby's mother died, before I met him, so didn't have the chance to get one from her. Her mom is the one who filled the book out.

Each question has it's own page for you to write on and is broken down month by month. These books are worth the time and energy to recall your childhood and many other questions asked. If you are like me, it will take you down memory lane, and also leave your loved ones with your words, in your own handwritting and you might be surprise how much you learn that you never knew about your loved one!

Brings back memories to share

Received as a gift, this book has been great in bringing back a lot of memories for me and my husband (who has the book for fathers to write in). I am definitely going to buy them for future parents. The questions presented are ones that you may never have thought to be interesting -- if thought of at all -- but a future generation can't help but enjoy the answers to follow. They have taken us longer to fill out than the suggested month-per-section, but it is fun to do when we have the time.

A must in preserving memories and legacy.

As my mother approaches her 87th birthday, there is so much I still don't know about her. Fortunately, she is very active and remembers her past much better than I can remember mine. This is such a wonderful format for her to put down in her owns words those memories I could never think to ask. How she felt about different phases of her life, what she cooked as her first meal, how she met my father, what she did in school, her likes and dislikes, fashions and style, travels and descriptions of her family and so much, much more. The book makes a wonderful gift to give to a woman to chronicle her life for future reference. I can't wait to give mine as a holiday gift to my Mother and look forward to reading about her life in her own words. This book is a must on your book list. February 11, 2009: My Mother is now approaching her 97th birthday on March 26th. I gave her the book ten years ago and she wrote in it until four years ago. I have not read it and have decided to do so on my Birthday, April 17th. With her failing memory, vision and hearing, I will savor and treasure every word that she has written.
