Wonderful portrait of preeminent French (American) food writers

This was a surprisingly entertaining and moving book, capturing a lost time for most of us: the south of France in 1970 and a handful of luminaries in the cooking and cookbook writing world. It makes you want to travel to France, to travel back in time, and to sit and talk with friends over food & wine, butter & bread. This book is a welcome introduction to some of the best food memoir writers in the 20th century. Well researched and compassionately told, it’s a great story for anyone still yearning for the potency of life after raising kids and traveling the world. It reminds us of the value of simple pleasures and the need for human connection at any age; so many life lessons packed in these chapters, ones I will savor for a long time.
