Best possible leftovers! I am rereading for the second time. It is better than my second cup of coff

Better than my second cup of coffee! I am reading for the second time. Plum Island is a great read. Wish John Corey was watching the fake news today. Where are you when they even want to defund Superman. The criminals are running today's world. Enjoy Plum Island and you will be a Nelson Demille fan forever. Just imagine if Sean Hannity was followed by John Corey on Fox news! Watch out Pelosi and Schumer!!!!

Action and Suspense

My first book by this author and I am hooked. I loved this book and plan to read all of the books in the John Corey series. Lots of suspense and humor.

The Real Deal

This was a great read, I mean just wow. I could literally not put it down, causing my friends to inquire just how good this book really was. I had my friends read it and they said it was a great book and had a great main character (John Corey). As an aspiring writer, I'm usually skeptical of the books I read and the authors I choose. I originally thought this book was going to be about Plum Island and a mystery having to do with biological scientific fact. What I later discovered was there was more to this book than just that. A great murder mystery, lovable and hatable characters, non-stop action, and a nearly perfect beginning, middle, and end. Nelson Demille is truly a spectacular author.

I thought this book was great.

I've read all the DeMille I can get my hands on, and this one was one of my favorites. It's the first book in a set of two, The Lion's Game as its companion book (and which is a smidge better than this one, even!).I like DeMille because at his best, his characters are smart and sassy, and the stories are cohesive, with serious subject matter presented with a touch of the absurd; the seriousness doesn't become so grave so as to obliterate any enjoyment of the story or his use of words. This story exemplifies exactly what I mean... once you begin reading, it's like riding over rapids. The water just rushes on, makes you laugh, and occasionally you stop, startled, when something bumps a bit more than you expected. In this particular story, our main character (NYC investigator Paul Corey) is recovering on Long Island from some gunshot wounds, and he gets involved in the local double homicide of two scientists who work on Plum Island, a contagious disease research center right off of the coast. Of course, Paul is (in his own mind at least) smarter and savvier than any of the local yokels, even the pretty detective Beth Penrose, who's in charge of the investigation (although properly, she's not local, either). The fact that the scientists worked with some of the most lethal pathogens on earth rises all sorts of speculation that they were being evil and subversive to assist some less-friendly nation with the wiping out of the human race, but Corey in all his infinite and dubious wisdom, uncovers an alternative theory that's much less lethal -- at least for greater mankind -- but all the more intriguing for those who love history and treasure hunts.I enjoyed this book. Most voracious readers would, too.

THE funniest book I've ever read.

"Funny" dialogue, in books, almost never reads well. It ends up sounding either corny or contrived. Nelson DeMille's Plum Island, however, has the quick wit of a stand up comic. The main character and narrator is such a wise-ass that the conversations/ interrogations actually caused me to laugh out loud! (This has never happened to me before.) I strongly urge everyone to read this book! It's absolutely hilarious!

Plum Island

Absolutely one of the best books I have ever read. This is my first Nelson Demille book and I couldn't wait to go buy up all others that I could find. John Corey is great. His character is superbly developed, and very believable. The storyline and Demille's way of conveying the story makes it very hard to put down. I really appreciate the fact that nothing was "over the top" or unbelievable. I recommend this book highly to anyone. Great job Mr. Demille! I just started reading The Lion's Game and am hoping that Corey is not killed off. Keep him coming.

OBNOXIOUS NYC COPS CAN BE VERY ENTERTAINING

As a NYC cop myself, I approach books with NYPD characters and related subject matter with some trepidation. You see, most authors are unskilled in this area, most fail to do their homework and most usually fall prey to cliches', politically correct stereotypes and ill informed absurdities when it comes to writing about and conveying the witty, often cavalier and shrewd personna of one of New York's Finest. Some of the worst offenders are retired NYPD cops themselves, like William Caunitz for example. This is absolutely NOT the case with Nelson DeMille's 'Plum Island'. DeMille hits the nail on the head in this page turner, once again proving to this reader that he is peerless today in the world of fiction. His characters ring true and the hilarity of the situations that they encounter do justice to the notion that "you can't make this shit up". DeMille does make it up and nobody does it better. I have read all of his books and I anxiously await his next. Nelson DeMille is also probably a cool guy to hang out and drink beer with. If you're ever in Brooklyn Nelson, look me up. LT.
