Great Book

The author does a wonderful job of describing the content while still keeping it interesting. They also have good topic reviews as well as a whole chapter summary. It makes it really easy to study and do well in any physiological psychology course.

Ali Baba

As a student with no background in Biology, this book helped me tremendously with my Physiological Psychology course.

Excellent for basic neuropsych

This book is clear and does an excellent job of teaching a beginner the basics of neuropsych. Carlson understands this material can at times be dry and difficult and is able to write anecdotally and scientifically.

Love this book

I borrowed the 4th ed. of this book from a friend of mine to write up a lecture on synaptic transmissions. It was the clearest, most well-written physio psych book I think I've ever seen. Usually when psychologist try to write about biology they end up doing things like describing neurons as "a fluid-filled balloon" (no joke. Actually saw that in my intro textbook), but Carlson is clear yet intelligent. I would definitely recommend this book and hope to use it in my classes in the future.

very valuable

We used this book originally for my physiological psychology course as an undergraduate. I made the mistake of selling the book at the end of the semester. When I began a career in medicine I repurchased the book because it explained pieces of physiology about the brain that were readable, and best of all, understandable. A must-have for physio. psych class but a great addition to regular physiology classes in order to get more detail. This was my favorite text overall of all my undergraduate courses.
