Insects and Spiders

Insects and Spiders contained just information on each item. It is easy to read and understand.

badly damaged book

despite usually excellent service, the field guide i received today had a rectangle cut from the printed pages as if someone was trying to create a secret stash spot. the rectangles were included so i now have a puzzle instead of a book. anyone have tape???

Comprehensive?

I tried to look up many insects that are common in my area and none of them were in this guide. It is not a comprehensive guide at all. I feel I wasted money when I bought this guide. Look for another guide instead of buying this one.

Great Guide

This Is a field guide and it is a good one, you may not be able to ID what you are looking at but you can narrow it down for further research. I use this with two other books one on spiders and one on dragonflys and have been able to ID everthing pretty easyly

All Things Creepy and Crawly

When my nephew was chosen for his school's science olympiad team as the "bug" expert, I knew he would need this book even though it was not one of the teacher's recommendations. I have the NASFG for birds, and I know they are like no other. Each features full color PHOTOGRAPHS of the subjects - not illustrations or renderings, and the details on habitat, migration, feeding, mating, etc.... are fabulous. It is well worth the few extra dollars! If you like/love/hate bugs, this is your one mandatory reference guide!

Outstanding guide for macro photographers

Getting into macro photography, I was discovering all kinds of weird insects, and had no idea what they were. I knew that to be as professional as possible, I needed to be able to identify my tiny subjects as well as know their habits, preferred envirnonment and so on...I like the way this book is organized. You have a table of contents of sorts that lists bug shapes. They are organized by similiar shape, and color. Not ment to be read from cover to cover, this book is excellent for throwing into my camera bag for to be a field reference.

I have had this book for years

I first got this book when I started college, for horticulture, while the study only became a hobby in my later years, this book has been with me the whole time. Every time I see a new bug or insect in my habitat, I run to the house and bring out this book. 80% of the time I can ID it by only using the plates. 15% of the rest I can figure it out by the description pages and the last 5% I usually have enough information to go look on the Internet to find out exactly what I am looking at. I think that it must say something to say I have had this book for 19 years and still use it every summer. And yes it is the same book- I looked at the screen shots Amizon.com so nicely provides and the contents and index is identical. And so are the pages I saw including the page #'s This is a very good book to get you on the road to entomology and as a reference after that, one you too will keep a long time!

AUDUBON GUIDE TO INSECTS AND SPIDERS

This is a great book for anyone interested in Insects and is especially good for school projects. It has about 800 full-color photos and descriptions of many Norht American Insects ans Spiders. Compared to the steep price at bookstores of $19.00, the $13.00 price is a steal. A must have for all insect lovers
