Lensman From Rigel

I bought as many of this series as I could find. My husband remembered reading this in his younger years and still enjoys them today.

almost as good as the EESmith originals

If you are like me, you were disappointed that E.E.Smith only wrote seven Lensman books. For years, I didn't know that there were three other books. All of Smith's books were written primarily from the point of view of the Human Lensman. By the time you got to the Gray Lensman and Second Stage Lensmen books, the plots concentrated around Kinnison, the first of the Second Stagers.David Kyle has filled the void by writing three books, each one from the point of view of each of the other Second Stage Lensmen, Worsel (Dragon); Nadreck (Z) and Tregonsee (Rigel), the order I suggest you read them in.Though the books are slightly less satisfying than the originals, they are still great reading. I suspect that my lesser satisfaction comes from the alien points of view, which makes the character harder to understand.I do suggest, however, that you read Dragon first, then Z second, as Z builds on some of the events of Dragon, then, of course, read Rigel. If you love E.E.Smith's books, as I do, then definitely read David Kyle's three Lensman books, written from the points of view of the other three Second Stage Lensmen.John Knoderer
