Short yet thorough and informative book

It’s only 150 pages but it goes through the major parts of the language in a thorough manor. In the process, the author (who happens to be the man behind JSON) explicates his own clean style of JavaScript. It’s short but terse, using a flowchart to explain some of the syntax, so I wouldn’t try to skim through it.
