Understanding the author:I love this book!

This book was really interesting. I liked getting to know the story of the author. Her story is almost as intriguing as the Harry Potter series'. Before reading this book, I didn't even know what the J. K. stood for!

A very good book when you get into it.

This book is very good, it is mostly about the life story about J.K. Rowling. I have read it two times and I think it is very good. But I think the biography of J.K. Rowling is better than this book. Because I think this book isn't that detailful.

A wizarding read!!!

The book gave an insight to the wonderful, imaginative mind behind the magical writings of the Harry Potter book series. It broadens the horizons of minds young and old and explores the creative, fantasy-filled world that is seeked by all. A truly explosive read!

An interesting biography of an amazing author!

Marc Shapiro, gathering from newspaper, magazines, book, and internet sources, does a wonderful job of telling the reader about the life of, at one point unknown, British Author J.K. Rowling, mastermind behind the fantastic Harry Potter books. By reading this book, we see what first inspired Rowling to write about the life of Harry, and we see what kept her going throughout numerous setbacks. We also see the influences she had along the way, whether from friends, or from books she had read and authors she liked, C.S. Lewis for one (he is also a magnificent author) and we see much else as well. It has been alleged in other reviews that all Marc Shapiro did was gather things from other resources and did no work on his own, but that is untrue, Mr. Shapiro worked very hard putting this book together, and it is now a valued asset in my collection of all things Potter!

The missing part of the Harry Potter series

After reading J. K. Rowling : The Wizard Behind Harry Potter by Marc Shapiro, I felt like I knew Harry Potter better than I had by simply reading the series. Knowing the author's background is the first part in understanding the true meaning of the story. This book is a MUST for all of those who like Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
