A desperate woman, an uninterested Duke

Eloisa James makes an interesting romance, Mia a secret author and aunt to a nephew who was deformed by his mother's opium addiction was about to be wed until the day of the wedding her groom had disappeared. Desperate she goes to the son of her father's lover Evander Septimus Brody, a Duke who because of his mother's infidelity with her father has kept himself out of London society. This due to his fighting with virtually every boy who brought it up, and swearing he'd never be cheated on like his father because he has sworn to never marry. But when Mia blackmails him, he agrees to marriage to her. Mia meets Evander's uncle Chuffy and even amazes his staff by taming his newest horse he purchased Jafir, a wild Arabian stallion who seems to only find peace with her. And slowly Evander learns that maybe she isn't as bad, that maybe her, and her nephew are what he needs for the family he always wanted and should have had. James makes a good historical romance that leaves you falling for all of them.
