Very good.

I don't know why this book gets negative comments. I admit that the derivation of equation is quite challenging, but it is because the students at this level are usually not proficient with calculus yet. The virtue of this textbook is a lot of examples. There are ALWAYS 2~3 examples for EACH chapters, and each steps are shown clearly. The only drawback is on the chapters on 3D motion chapter. The author uses same symbol for two different physical properties, so that the 3D kinematic eqn is totally messed up. But the example problem is solved in correct way, so you can fix the equation by carefully reading the example.

Superior to Beer & Johnston

I am a sophomore mechanical engineering student that absolutely never ever pays attention in class. So this always leaves me learning 100% from a book. At my school, we were assigned Beer & Johnston's 8th Edition for Statics & Dynamics. I used it all through my statics course and managed to get an A. However when it came to dynamics, the material gets more difficult to grasp (because it's moving away from you). I began to look online for a supplemental book, I read a lot of negative reviews for the hibbeler book, but decided to go for it. I ordered this book and began reading the chapters and working the example problems. I then attempted the assigned homework from the beer & johnston's book. After learning the material from the hibbeler book, I found it MUCH MUCH easier to take on the problems from the beer & johnston's book. Here's an example. On our past section in dynamics (Principle of Work) several students got hung up on an assigned problem for about two days. Once I got to it, I knew exactly how to handle the problem because I was properly taught how to handle it (from the hibbeler book). I looked in the beer & johnston's book and they completely skipped over it. To me this book is equivalent to having a much better teacher, because it is the book that teaches me everything. Another thing, about the solution manuals. No engineering book is going to come with worked out solutions like the calculus books tend to do. The objective of these higher level courses is to teach the student how to think and analytically solve problems rather than rely on raw memorization. I did not mean for this to be so long-winded, but I feel that a lot of people took the course and struggled and are blaming it on the book. If the book was any easier, you wouldn't learn as much. This is a great book for those that want to learn the real deal.

Best Engineering Mechanics book I've seen so far!

Wisely organized and clear, I definitely learn more mechanics from this book than any other. Each section is short and concise, it tells you what you need to know (i.e. the principles), and nothing more. A must-read for junior engineers!

The best engineering textbook I have ever used!

This is definately a textbook that I am going to keep after I get out of school. I have already used it as a reference book for several classes!

The clearest Engineering book I've had yet !

This is the best statics/dynamics book, It has many illustrations, diagrams, exercises that are realistic/applicable. It also explains how the formulas are derived, but isn't too deep in the derivations (like most engineering books)
