Dos Mundos

Tracy Terrell was my advisor at the UCSD. That was when I got exposed to his book and his methodology (the Natural Approach). The book is geared around topics which makes it much more interesting and entertaining for all people involved to either learn or teach. It stresses communication and in a very interesting way. It's a very demanding methodology. You have to learn a lot of vocabulary (without words you cannot communicate). Grammar has its place, but it's not like in other methodologies where grammar is the central part. It's fun to teach. The students enjoy it. It's the best way to learn Spanish or any other language. And the students end up being very fluent. :)

Strange

I have used Dos Mundos and Dos Mundos En Breve at two different universities and for church mission classes. We have found them awesome. They are structured more for adults, so perhaps the previous two reviewers are children.

This is a great book. One of few college books that I did not sell back. Great for the beginner or for someone who needs to brush up on their spanish.

This is a great book to learn from, the workbook is also very helpful. This is one of the few college text books that I refused to sell back.

Best Classroom Text on the Market

I have been teaching University level introductory Spanish for over 10 years. This text is the best that I have ever used. The layout and coloring is great. There are excellent unit divisions. The latest edition has meaningfull cultural readings included within the chapters. Grammar explainations are clear and concise with good exercises. This is not a text for home study as the methodology incorporated is the Communicative Approach; briefy stated, study grammar and vocab at home and come to class and use it. Great classromm text for any Basic Language Program.
