You should have this book.
More than just techniques

It is nice to see that someone is sharing us thoughts for more than 2 cents. Kilkki has presented in his book a clear and systematic chain of thoughts about Internet technology and its valuability for different usages. He uses a lot of effort to make clear the difference between the priority and reservation based QoS systems. He explains latest technologies and their relation to basic taxonomy (sharing vs reservation, priorities vs reservation). All the latest hypes are explained and reader is carried through these issues in a compact form. I would recommend this book for people who like to UNDERSTAND Internet technology on a level higher than acronyms, and bits and pieces.

The book contains excellent information on Quality of service on the internet. It covers stuff ranging from the origin of QoS , how the IETF started with Integrated services and the reason for ths shift towards differentiated services. It also discusses tag switching, MPLS and the uses of these in VPN. I would recommend the book to anyone with some prior knowledge of the internet functioning, ATM and IP.
